McGill Centre for Global Surgery
Members of McGill University Department of Surgery have a long established interest in International Surgery, perhaps dating back to Canada’s foremost international surgeon, Norman Bethune, who trained in Montreal. Several key visionary surgeons contributing to the formation of the Canadian Network of International Surgery CNIS were McGill faculty including Dr. Peter McLean, Dr. Ron Lett, and Dr. Antoine Loutfi
The McGill Centre for Global Surgery was developed by Drs Dan Deckelbaum and Tareck Razek. The Centre has had an emphasis on trauma management and prevention in developing countries. The centres has also developed partnerships with surgical departments in several low and middle income countries including Rwanda.
